Bud’s former Encino home sold
Bud Abbott’s former home at 4505 Woodley Avenue in Encino, Calif., was sold in July for $1.4 million by its owner, comedian and impressionist Frank Caliendo. The English Country-style home, built in 1939, has a dual-island kitchen, a family room with a wet bar, five bedrooms and six bathrooms in 3,662 square feet of space. Leaded glass bay and picture windows, hardwood floors and wainscoting are among the interior details.
Outdoors, grounds of about a quarter of an acre feature a swimming pool and spa, a large patio and a built-in barbecue.
The home came on the market in June for $1.495 million. It previously sold for $1.123 million in 2003.
Bud Abbott bought the property in 1941, which then occupied several acres. In the 1950s he sold off the land to settle some of his tax debts, then sold the house in 1959.•
