Quarterly 75 is now online
Abbott and Costello Quarterly No. 75 has been published online for members.
We’ve been tracking Bud and Lou’s individual careers over the past several issues, adding a lot of new information, correcting errors and even dispelling some myths. In the first of a two-part Feature, we pick up where we left off, with Bud and Lou joining forces early in 1936, and follow them for the first two years of their remarkable partnership.
Of course the boys started off in burlesque, but also did some small-time vaudeville dates, spent two summers at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City, and toured in a show called “Hollywood Bandwagon.” (Coincidentally, Lou met his future stunt double, Vic Parks, in that show.) As usual, there’s a wealth of new information, contemporaneous reviews and corrections to give us a more complete picture of the boys as they built their rapport and honed their repertoire.
